North GA Kids

Below is a list of things to do in Northern Georgia. I have added comments for those that we have visited.

Atlanta

*We went to the aquarium in July 2010...on a Thursday. It was extremely crowded and very difficult to see the sights. Our teen was out of town so we took our toddler (14 mths). The aquarium is moderately stroller friendly but with so many people it was very difficult to get around with a child, let alone a stroller. We plan to go back in the 'off season' because it really is a spectacular facility!

Appalachian Trail (The AT)

Dawson County
Amicalola Falls (This is a very nice State Park with plenty of picnic areas, hiking trails, play grounds, visitor center with gift shop, and much more).
Burt's Farm (Seasonal Sept-Nov. Pumpkins and hayrides).
Cherokee Music Company (Arcade)
Kangaroo Conservation Center (No children under 5 will be admitted).
Uncle Shuck's Pumpkin Patch (Seasonal Sept-Nov. This is a lot of fun for kids! They have a huge corn maze, pumpkins, food, and more. Definitely a kid-friendly establishment!)

Fannin County
Blue Ridge GA
Mercier Orchards

Harris County
City of Pine Mountain
Wild Animal Safari (Totally worth the drive!)

Lumpkin County
Dahlonega Gold Museum
Chestatee Wildlife Preserve
Consolidated Gold Mine (This is fun for older kids and adults. Pan for gold, buy a bucket of gems to 'mine', and tour the mine).
Crisson Mine
Tomato House - 147 Strawberry Lane. Dahlonega, Ga 30533. (706) 878-0703. (They do not have a website. This is a road side market type store. My older son likes to go here to look around. I wouldn't recommend for younger children as there are tons of jarred jams, sauces, and other edible treats).

Meriwether County
City of Pine Mountain
Wild Animal Safari (Totally worth the drive!)
